Sheffield’s New Growth Plan

Sheffield’s New Growth Plan

A few weeks ago, Kate Josephs and Meredith Teasdale presented Sheffield’s new Growth Plan to a large group of headteachers at Learn Sheffield. The plan was approved by councillors last week with the aim that:

  • Our city has the jobs it needs to grow and prosper.

  • Our people have the skills needed for those jobs.

Culture and Creative has been identified as one of five sector specialisms critical to our city’s continued growth and economic renewal. Create Sheffield partners also know just how important culture and creativity are to all our residents, and to children and young particular, not just for their futures but for their health and well-being now so we welcome this inclusion. We will continue to work with all our partners to ensure that every child and young person here has equitable access to the creative arts no matter their background. We are working with partners to put on events for young people for Discover! Creative Careers week in November, more information to follow so keep an eye on our website.

You can see the slides from the presentation at Learn Sheffield here. You can also watch the video of the Economic Development & Skills Committee and view the papers here.
