Who we are

Sheffield DocFest is the UK's leading documentary festival and our 32nd edition will be taking place 18th - 23rd June 2025. Each year we bring filmmakers from across the world to show their documentaries for the first time in the UK, here in Sheffield. Professionals and audiences from all walks of life attend the festival, with guests in previous editions including David Attenborough, Munya Chawawa, Louis Theroux and Stacey Dooley.

DocFest is a great place for your students to expand their understanding of those around them and those with completely different lived experiences, as well as build an awareness of international current events and important world discussions. They will also build knowledge of the world of film and TV and can hear from an incredible range of filmmakers and creative leaders. Take a look at our 2024 Highlights Reel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6OA5eZhSX0

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what the schools we’re working with have to say…

Sheffield Doc Fest is a great way for our students to see a local festival that brings in so many different people from lots of different places. It also brings a mixture of subgenres together within the documentary genre, which is great to see.” - Ellie Beckett, UTC Sheffield

Our 2025 programme will include screenings on Wednesday 18th June and Monday 23rd June which are open exclusively to school groups.
