Beth Guiver - Magic Box Storytelling

Beth is a professional storyteller and heritage education specialist working and living in Sheffield. She runs workshops as a freelance storyteller and re-enactor in primary schools to all year groups. All of her performances and workshops contain music, singing and props and have a highly interactive and immersive style. Beth’s first degree was in English Literature and she is a qualified English and Drama (QTS teacher at secondary school age) with 20 years of experience working as a teacher, workshop leader and performer.

Beth’s work is motivated by the wonder of our magical international bank of myths, folktales and legends and the rich history we share. She has seen the power of bringing these stories to children, in a playful and engaging way, to develop confidence with telling stories, accessing the imagination and helping forge community.

Recent cultural partners include; Sheffield Libraries, Newark Literary festival, Bradford Literary Festival, Leeds Museums, Sheffield Museums, Sheffield Theatres, Assist and Derbyshire Museums.

All performances/workshops are tailored to the needs of the client/audience, depending on the age of the group and interest so please get in touch for bespoke commissions! Her research and practice is rooted in the love of folk and literary heritage and the style of contemporary performance.

Beth gets to play every day and engage young people with their environment, community and heritage through the power of story. What a fun job!
