Art, Creativity, Culture – Sheffield’s Children and Young People Speak Out

On Friday 9 February people from across Sheffield gathered at Millennium Gallery to hear from the Voice & Influence team. The team are all care-experienced young people and are emerging experts in gathering the voices of seldom-heard young people. They asked children and young people in the more deprived areas of Sheffield what they thought arts and culture was, what it meant to them and what they would like to see more of in the future and where. You can read their full report here.

The audience also heard from Tom Hunt, Leader of Sheffield City Council who shared the council’s future plans for children and young people as well arts and culture in the city. Award-winning artist Conor Rogers also spoke and shared his personal journey from Manor Boy to established artist.

The event was also an opportunity for Create Sheffield to share their future plans following a period of reflection and planning based on the recently received equality, diversity and inclusion reports.
